On April 20, 2020, my 20-year career in high-tech ended in a five-minute call.
No warning. No subject line. Just a CIO, HR, and a sudden cut from the network.

One moment I was leading finance and technology operations with an $800k mortgage, two kids in private school, and full household responsibility. The next, I was unemployed—like 40 million others during COVID.

The anxiety and doubt that followed nearly broke me. But it also forged a decision: my story wasn’t going to end with a layoff.

I launched Second Life Leader to spotlight founders and CEOs who rebuild from failure, lead with principle, and put people first. Their stories prove that setbacks don’t define us—they refine us.

My work now focuses on one mission: help leaders turn adversity into momentum. That includes building smarter systems, leveraging technology for growth, and creating value without sacrificing people.
